The United Nations

The United Nations was founded after WWII in 1945, it was created to replace the League of Nations. It was created to stop wars and set a platform for dialogue, so other countries could speak out. Currently there are 192 members. The United Nations has six principal parts: The General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat, the International Court of Justice, and the United Nations Trusteeship Council. The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and a majority of other signatures.
